What comes to mind with the word “Digerati’?

According to Wikipedia : Elite of the computer industry and online communities. The word is a portmanteau, derived from "digital" and "literati".

What better way to prove yourself as a worthy member of Digerati than to join an IT competition? To really put the Digerati students to the test, Ms. Arlene Pulido trainer, member of Board of Trustees, one of the co-founders of FDA and most importantly a Microsoft Office Specialist-Expert Level chaired the “IT Olympiad”. In contrast to the other activities put together for the Fun Day held in Gate 3, Zabeel Park on 6th March ’09 this branch of the festive day didn’t require physical strength, beauty and lurid voice but attentiveness and memory retention of the mind.

Students were pre-registered 2 weeks before the on-the-spot-hands-on-exam, this does not only signify that those who registered were willing to challenge their IT skills and were confident that they will be battling the rest of the cream of the crops. Otherwise, nobody could have garnered up the courage to join such a contest knowing the barrels of their guns are empty.

In these 2 weeks few trainers put their minds together to come up with a demanding Instruction Sheet that covers the application use of the Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) which are all being offered as courses in Filipino Digerati Association, and to spice up the sport Quiz Bee was included.

The following are the people responsible for preparation of Instruction Sheet:
• Lilian S. Bautista - PowerPoint
• Rizalina Abuel and JanRay Toledo - QuizBee
• Cristina Ababan – Excel
• IT Olympiad Chairman Arlene B. Pulido - Ms Word

The contenders were allotted time to fully complete the Instruction Sheet. Marking Sheets were used by the assessors to evaluate the output of the participants based on the directives given.
